C3015-Porsche RS Spyder VM Motorsports LMP2
History: Relive the 24 hours of Le Mans with the Merksteijn Porsche LMP2 car. Twenty years after Jan Lammers's victory and 37 and 32 years after Gijs van Lennep's achievements in 1971 and 1976 respectively, the team Van Merksteijn Motorsport has written a new chapter in Dutch motor racing history by becoming the first-ever Dutch team to score a class victory with a prototype in the Le Mans 24 Hours.
In the 76th running of the endurance classic at the 13.6 kilometres long circuit, Jeroen Bleekemolen, Peter van Merksteijn and Jos Verstappen took their Porsche RS Spyder to victory in the LMP2 category in front of 258,500 spectators. For Porsche, this success was historic, too: ten years after the brand's last overall Le Mans win with the 911 GT1, the Le Mans debut of the Porsche RS Spyder now ended with a commanding class win thanks to the Dutch team.
C3017-Maserati MC12 “Vitaphone”
History: In 2006 the only team representing Maserati was Vitaphone Racing. On September 30, 2006 Vitaphone secured the Teams' Championship for the 2006 season despite their drivers placing 5th and 7th in the Budapest 500km race with weight penalties of 85 kilograms and 105 kilograms respectively. Bertolini and Bartels also shared first place in the Drivers' Championship on 71 points but the manufacturers cup went to Aston Martin. Vitaphone Racing again won the GT1 Teams' Championship in the 2007 season on 115 points, followed by fellow MC12 team Scuderia Playteam Sarafree on 63 points.
Maserati also won the Manufacturers' Cup by a significant margin while Thomas Biagi won the Drivers' Championship. Fellow Vitaphone drivers Miguel Ramos and Christian Montanari tied for sixth, while Playteam's Andrea Bertolini and Andrea Piccini were just behind. For 2008, Vitaphone Racing returned with a pair of MC12s for drivers Andrea Bertolini, Michael Bartels, and Miguel Ramos, as well as newcomer Alexandre Negrão.

With an incredible competition career from 1969 to 1974, Allan Moffat and his amazing Mustang amassed 101 race wins from 151 starts and volumes of qualifying and lap records around the country. That stunning strike rate alone could explain this car's fanatical following, but what made its success all the more astonishing was that Moffat was often competing against muscle monsters with far greater engine capacity.
Bob Jane's big block 7.0 litre ZL-1 Camaro, Norm Beechey's 6.0 litre HT GTS Monaro and Pete Geoghegan's ferocious 5.8 litre Super Falcon all towered over Moffat's humble 5.0 litres of small block V8, during the Australian Touring Car Championships (ATCC) from 1969 to 1972. History records that Moffat never won the ATCC with the Mustang, after four hard years of trying. However, such a statistic is irrelevant when compared to the car's extraordinary success rate and countless unforgettable performances that have each earned their place in history.
